Brief description

Mr. Schmidt is admitted to practice before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office and has been active in intellectual property law since 2003.

His practice focuses on the drafting of German, European and international patent applications and the prosecution of the related grant proceedings. Mr. Schmidt is also experienced in handling opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. He is also familiar with conducting due diligence investigations, analyses of the validity of intellectual property rights and analyses of the intellectual property rights situation with regard to freedom-to-operate. Mr. Schmidt has in-depth technical expertise in the fields of medical technology, general physics, semiconductor technology, sensor technology, optics, optoelectronics, interferometry and lasers.

Mr. Schmidt studied physics at the University of Regensburg with a stay abroad at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the USA.

He is a member of the Association of Intellectual Property Professionals (VPP).
