Brief description

Dr. Andrea Geling is a partner in the patent law firm "Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner Patentanwälte PartG mbB". She joined the firm in 2009.

Dr. Geling is admitted to practice before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.

Dr. Geling successfully assists national and international clients in German, European and international examination proceedings. The conduct of opposition and nullity proceedings as well as the preparation of patentability analyses are as much part of her expertise as the preparation of "freedom to operate (FTO)" opinions in the fields of biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and medical technology.

In addition, Dr. Geling has many years of experience in all other areas of intellectual property law, in particular in the fields of utility model, trademark and design/design law.

Dr. Geling studied biotechnology at the Technical University in Braunschweig. Dr. Geling completed her diploma thesis at the Institute of Mammalian Genetics and her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Developmental Genetics under Prof. Dr. Rudi Balling at the Gesellschaft für Umwelt und Forschung (now Helmholtz Zentrum) in Munich Neuherberg.

Dr. Geling was awarded an EMBO fellowship and was a visiting scientist at SARS (International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology) in Bergen, Norway.
