His practice focuses on the preparation of German, European and international patent applications and the prosecution of the corresponding patent applications. He also assists in opposition, infringement and nullity proceedings of German and European patents.
Dr. Thieme studied Biology (BSc) at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry Göttingen and Microbiology (MSc) at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. Dr. Thieme completed his master's thesis on transcription factors in the human pathogenic bacterium Yersinia pseudotuberculosis at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research Braunschweig. Subsequently, he completed his PhD under Prof. Dr. Gerhard H. Braus in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Genetics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen within the graduate program "Microbiology and Biochemistry" of the Göttingen Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics and Molecular Biosciences. His PhD thesis focused on the transcriptional regulation of developmental programs and secondary metabolism in the genetic model organism Aspergillus nidulans and the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Concurrently with his dissertation, Dr. Thieme completed the distance learning course "Patent Law for Engineers and Scientists" at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
