A particular focus of his work is advising companies on the conception of patent strategies as well as on the establishment and strategic development of patent portfolios.

Dr. Thomas Wilk has experience in drafting and prosecuting European and international patent applications and in opposition proceedings in the life science disciplines including biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular diagnostics, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pharmacology, structural biology, stem cell therapy and virology.

Dr. Thomas Wilk studied biology at the universities of Cologne, Basel and Heidelberg. He completed his studies with his diploma thesis at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, in the department of Prof. zur Hausen. Dr. Thomas Wilk completed his doctoral thesis at the DKFZ's Applied Tumor Virology Research Unit, in the department of Prof. Lutz Gissmann. This was followed by many years of research work in the Department of Structural Biology at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg and at the University of Oxford.
