Brief description

William Thomann is admitted to practice before the European Patent Office and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. William Thomann's practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S., European and international patent applications in the fields of biotechnology, with an emphasis on cell and molecular biology, microbiology and immunology. He is also familiar with reexamination, reissue and appeal proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office.

William Thomann studied microbiology and immunology at the University of Rochester. After graduation, he conducted research in adenoviral insertional genetics at the University of Cologne as a recipient of the Rochester-Cologne Fellowship. After his studies in Cologne, he attended SUNY Stony Brook University and did research in transcriptional control at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Prior to joining "Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner Patentanwälte PartG mbB", William Thomann worked for two of the leading patent law firms in New York City, USA and subsequently for the Munich office of a leading European patent law firm. During this time, William Thomann was heavily involved in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications as well as in reexamination, reissue and appeal proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office, respectively.
