Brief description

Dr. Timo Kanzleiter joined the law firm "Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner Patenanwälte PartG mbB" in 2018.

Dr. Kanzleiter is admitted as a representative before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.

His main practice areas are the preparation of German, European and international patent applications and the prosecution of the corresponding patent applications in the fields of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetics and immunology. He also assists in opposition, infringement and revocation proceedings of German and European patents.

Dr. Kanzleiter studied biology at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Philipps University Marburg, where he obtained his PhD in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Martin Klingenspor. He then worked at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, Australia, in the department of the discoverer of the insulin-sensitive glucose transporter, Prof. David James. There he worked on the molecular causes of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. After returning to Germany, Dr. Kanzleiter worked at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) in Potsdam as a project leader, focusing on the genetic and epigenetic basis of type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Kanzleiter has received fellowships from the DFG under a graduate program and postdoctoral fellowship, and from the Diabetes Australia Research Trust.
